Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky spoke with German Chancellor Friedrich Merz about the situation on the frontlines and expressed gratitude for Germany’s political support regarding the opening of an export office for Ukrainian weapons in Berlin.
The Ukrainian leader announced this on Telegram, Ukrinform reports.
“I spoke with German Chancellor Friedrich Merz, just after visiting the command posts of our combat brigades and corps. I briefed him on the current situation at the front, and we discussed the key steps that could strengthen our defense,” Zelensky said.
He noted that with Germany’s support, thousands of lives have been saved since the start of the full-scale war.
“We particularly value help with air defense systems, military packages, and support for our resilience,” he added.
Zelensky also thanked Merz for his political backing of the export office for Ukrainian weapons in Berlin.
“We are actively working on the launch and will stay in contact,” Zelensky said.
The two leaders also coordinated their positions on the European track and bilateral relations.
