US President Donald Trump has concluded a conversation with Russian leader Vladimir Putin, which he called “very productive”.
He wrote about this on his social network Truth Social, Ukrinform reports.
Trump noted that Putin congratulated him and the United States “on the great achievement of peace in the Middle East.”
Putin thanked First Lady Melania Trump for her participation in working with children and said that this work would continue, the US President added.
The Presidents also discussed trade between Russia and the United States after the end of the war with Ukraine.
At the end of the conversation, Trump and Putin agreed that their high-level advisers would meet next week. The U.S. team will be led by Secretary of State Marco Rubio, along with others to be appointed later, the U.S. President said. The location of the meeting, according to him, has not yet been determined.
He also said that he would meet with Putin at an agreed-upon location – in Budapest, Hungary – to discuss the possibility of ending this ‘inglorious’ war between Russia and Ukraine.
“President Zelenskyy and I will be meeting tomorrow, in the Oval Office, where we will discuss my conversation with President Putin, and much more,” Trump said.
As Ukrinform reported, Trump spoke with Putin on the phone on the eve of his meeting with Zelensky.
