Ukraine’s Ambassador to the United States, Olga Stefanishyna, met with U.S. Senator Lindsey Graham to discuss American legislative initiatives aimed at strengthening pressure on Russia.
The diplomat shared details of the meeting on Telegram, Ukrinform reports.
“I was pleased to meet with U.S. Senator Lindsey Graham. We had a productive discussion on steps that bring us closer to a just and lasting peace for Ukraine. In particular, we talked about key legislative initiatives (co-sponsored by the senator) that aim to increase pressure on Russia, including a bill to designate Russia as a state sponsor of terrorism if it fails to return abducted Ukrainian children; the REPO Act, which would enable the use of frozen Russian assets for Ukraine’s needs; and the Sanctioning Russia Act of 2025,” Stefanishyna said.
She added that she values Senator Graham’s consistent stance on holding Russia accountable, spreading the truth about its war, and strengthening the strategic partnership between Ukraine and the United States.
The U.S. Department of the Treasury recently announced sanctions against Russian oil companies Rosneft and Lukoil, calling on Moscow to immediately agree to a ceasefire in Ukraine.
On October 22, the U.S. Senate Foreign Relations Committee approved three bills supporting Ukraine and increasing pressure on Russia and the countries aiding its aggression.
