Most of the issues discussed during the Staff meeting concerned the energy situation in the regions, protection of energy facilities, preparation for the winter season, and gas procurement.
President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky reported this on Telegram, according to Ukrinform.
“I held a Staff meeting. Most of the agenda focused on the energy sector. First and foremost, we discussed the situation in the regions and communities, the existing challenges in the border and frontline areas,” he said.
The President noted that “the closer the positions of the Russian army, the greater the challenges” in the energy sector.
According to him, the authorities are currently preparing a full range of responses, including “scaling up our long-range responses to Russia’s terror against Ukraine’s infrastructure.”
At the same time, the meeting included reports on recovery efforts in communities affected by strikes.
“We also defined the parameters for expanding our reserves, particularly equipment reserves. We have clear lines of communication with our partners in Europe who can support us with the required types of energy equipment. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine must be more proactive in this regard,” the President emphasized.
The meeting also addressed the gas sector — gas accumulation for the heating season and repair work.
Zelensky expressed gratitude to all Ukrainian gas workers and every company working for Ukraine.
“The sources of financing for the purchase of the required gas volumes have been clearly determined, and a significant portion of the financial generation has already been secured. This work continues,” Zelensky assured.
In addition, a separate report was presented during the Staff meeting regarding the protection of energy facilities from air strikes.
“We’ve made decisions on additional helicopters and on reinforcing our combat aviation overall. I instructed the relevant team to promptly prepare all the documents necessary for agreements with the American side on the procurement of air defense systems. It’s crucial to work through every detail of these potential agreements on paper now, so that we can expedite negotiations,” the President added.
As reported by Ukrinform, due to the consequences of Russia’s massive attacks on Monday, October 20, all regions are applying power limitation schedules for enterprises and industries from 6:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m.; in the Chernihiv region, hourly power outage schedules are in effect.
