The Ministry of Economy, Environment and Agriculture, in coordination with G7 partner countries, will submit proposals to the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine within the week for the appointment of a new Supervisory Board for National Nuclear Energy Generating Company Energoatom.

This was announced by the ministry’s press service, according to Ukrinform.

“At the direction of Prime Minister Yuliia Svyrydenko, the Ministry of Economy, Environment and Agriculture, in cooperation with G7 partners, will submit proposals to the government within the week for the new composition of the Supervisory Board of JSC NNEGC Energoatom. Work has begun on compiling a list of potential candidates. An advisor assisting the ministry has already been appointed,” the statement reads.

The ministry emphasized that amid full-scale war, the Supervisory Board of the state-owned energy company must not only oversee strategic development but also ensure crisis management, timely risk response, and the safety and resilience of operations.

“The board’s renewal is aimed at strengthening these functions and ensuring swift engagement with anti-corruption and audit bodies, international partners, and the public,” the ministry added.

In parallel, and at the government’s instruction, the State Audit Service has launched a comprehensive audit of Energoatom following disclosures by the National Anti-Corruption Bureau of Ukraine (NABU). The procurement audit is to be completed within 15 working days, while a full company audit is scheduled for completion within 90 working days. The findings will be forwarded to law enforcement and anti-corruption agencies.

As previously reported by Ukrinform, on November 11, the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine terminated the powers of Energoatom’s Supervisory Board ahead of schedule.

On November 10, NABU announced a special operation targeting corruption in the energy sector. Investigators uncovered a large-scale scheme orchestrated by a criminal organization to exert influence over strategic state-owned enterprises, including Energoatom.

A source within law enforcement confirmed that NABU agents conducted searches at the residence of businessman and co-owner of Kvartal 95 Studio, Tymur Mindich, as well as at the premises of Justice Minister German Galushchenko, who previously served as Minister of Energy.

On November 11, law enforcement authorities detained five individuals as part of the corruption investigation in the energy sector. Seven people were formally notified of suspicion, including a businessman who headed a criminal organization, a former adviser to the energy minister, Energoatom’s executive director in charge of physical protection and security, and four employees of a “back office” involved in money laundering.
