Russian forces launched another nighttime assault on Ukraine’s logistics infrastructure early Monday, October 20, striking railway and port facilities.

Deputy Prime Minister for Restoration and Minister for Communities and Territories Development Oleksii Kuleba reported this on Facebook, according to Ukrinform.

In Chernihiv region, an Ukrzaliznytsia traction substation was hit.

Railway energy teams immediately began repair work overnight, but the enemy sent drones to target the repair site. Thanks to monitoring systems, workers were evacuated in time, and no casualties were reported. Train traffic continues, supported by reserve diesel locomotives.

Kuleba said that port infrastructure was also attacked, with some facilities and buildings damaged. Fires were quickly contained, and port workers, who were in shelters, were unharmed.

Several ports have temporarily stopped receiving trains; rail traffic has been rerouted and will resume when possible.

“Russia is deliberately striking our transport arteries that connect the country, sustain the economy, and support life. But even under fire, the system keeps working. We continue repair efforts,” the Deputy Prime Minister emphasized.
