On Friday, emergency power cuts are planned during the evening peak consumption period; in the eastern part of the country, power cuts may resume in the next hour.
According to Ukrinform, the Chairman of the Board of NPC Ukrenergo, Vitalii Zaychenko, announced this on television.
“Emergency power cuts are partially applied to domestic consumers. These restrictions will be in place today during the evening peak load period and, possibly, in the next hour in the eastern part of Ukraine,” he said.
He stressed that the Russians have resorted to a scorched-earth policy in their attacks on the energy sector, systematically destroying entire energy districts. At the same time, thermal power plants are particularly affected by the strikes.
“Energy companies continue to restore facilities that have already been hit dozens of times and continue to provide electricity to the residents of Ukraine,” said the Chairman of the Board of Ukrenergo.
Zaychenko added that about half of the transmission system’s autotransformers are protected against Shaked drone attacks.
As reported, on the morning of October 17, emergency power cuts were implemented in the capital and 12 regions. From 7:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m., power restriction schedules are in effect for industry.
