Another, sixth group of volunteers from the Ukrainian Legion will sign contracts with the Armed Forces of Ukraine on October 10 in Lublin.

Ukraine’s Ambassador in Poland Vasyl Bodnar confirmed this in a comment to Ukrinform.

“On October 10 in Lublin, several dozen volunteers from among Ukrainians living abroad will sign contracts with the Armed Forces of Ukraine,” Bodnar said.

According to him, despite all attempts to discredit the activities of the recruitment center, it continues to operate, and the enlistment of volunteers goes on without interruption.

“Yes, these are not hundreds or thousands of people, but systematic work is being done. A large number of applications are being processed, the best candidates are being selected, and there is visible progress,” the ambassador noted.

He added that the recruitment center at Ukraine’s Consulate General in Lublin has been functioning for a year, and its work has proven effective. Therefore, the center will continue to operate and recruit Ukrainian volunteers abroad to join the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

As Ukrinform reported, the creation of the Ukrainian Legion was announced in early July last year, when President Volodymyr Zelensky and Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk signed a security agreement in Warsaw. One of its provisions involves training Ukrainian military units on Polish territory.

A recruitment center for Ukrainian citizens wishing to volunteer was opened at the Consulate General of Ukraine in Lublin in early October last year.

Volunteers of the Ukrainian Legion can sign contracts for one year, three years, or until the end of the special period. After signing their contracts with the Armed Forces of Ukraine, they are sent to a training ground near Lublin for military instruction. The training is conducted by NATO instructors. Service members requiring specialized training can undergo additional preparation at other locations.

According to the agreement, the Ukrainian side provides Legion volunteers with uniforms and medical supplies, while the Polish side provides infrastructure, equipment, and weapons during the training period.

The first group of Ukrainian Legion volunteers signed contracts with the Armed Forces in November last year, the second in January, the third in late February, the fourth in early June, and the fifth in early August.
