
Ukrainian Defense Minister Denys Shmyhal held talks with newly appointed German Ambassador Heiko Thoms on cooperation in the defense industry, focusing on the development of existing joint ventures and efforts to establish new ones.
Shmyhal shared details of the meeting via Facebook, according to Ukrinform.
The minister briefed the ambassador on Ukraine’s needs in financing drone production and strengthening its air defense.
He stressed the need to increase pressure on Russia by imposing new sanctions and destroying its resources for waging war.
Shmyhal also highlighted the importance of swift decision-making amid intensified shelling ahead of the winter season.
The minister expressed gratitude to Germany for its active cooperation and invited German defense companies to localize production in Ukraine.
On September 20 President Volodymyr Zelensky accepted the credentials of the newly appointed ambassadors of Germany, Norway, and the Czech Republic.
