Pope Francis, before his audience in St. Peter’s Square, also spoke about the war in Gaza and mainly about all those who were injured or died, stressing that war is always a defeat.
Focusing on the conflicts in Ukraine, Palestine, Lebanon and Sudan, Pope Francis called for peace in the Middle East and said that the “neglect of war” symbolizes the “victory of lies and deception”.
He stated that prayers go out to the 153 women and children recently killed by an Israeli attack in Gaza
Last week’s victims are among at least 43,000 people killed in Gaza by Israeli strikes, most of them women and children. Nearly 13 months after Israel’s unstoppable offensive, the number of wounded has also risen to over 101,000.
The Pope also expressed his solidarity for the citizens affected by the flood disaster in Spain and condolences for those who lost their lives.
Also, he called for support for all Spaniards who are suffering the consequences of this severe natural disaster.
