Ukrainian wheelchair athletes win 11 medals at Fencing World Cup

Ukrainian athletes claimed 11 medals at the Wheelchair Fencing World Cup held in Pisa, Italy.

Ukrainian fencers achieved the following results:

  • First place: Oleh Naumenko (foil, category B).
  • Second place: Nadiia Dyolog (foil, category B); Andrii Demchuk (saber and foil, category A); Oleksii Zakusylov (epee, category A); Eduard Kudenko, Oleh Naumenko, Mariia Ivanchyk, and Olha Yesina (epee, mixed team).
  • Third place: Nataliia Morkvych (foil and saber, category A); Oleh Naumenko (epee, category B); Olha Yesina (epee, category B); and the mixed team of Oleh Naumenko, Oleksii Zakusylov, Nadiia Dyolog, and Nataliia Mandryk (foil).

Fencer Oleh Naumenko, training at the Mykolaiv regional center “Invasport,” earned an impressive four medals at the Wheelchair Fencing World Cup:

  • Gold in individual foil (category B)
  • Silver in team epee
  • Bronze in individual epee
  • Bronze in team foil

It is worth adding that Polish veteran and amputee Jakob Kepka launched the “HopeRaising Expedition” project to support Ukrainian defenders injured in the war. He cycled 1,200 kilometers from Krakow to Kyiv, raising funds and awareness along the way. In other recent sports achievements, the Ukrainian national team won 36 medals at the European Championship in Athens, Greece, securing first place among 41 countries across 12 event categories. Meanwhile, the “Veterans Games,” organized by the Ministry of Veterans Affairs of Ukraine, held its first stage in Odesa this weekend. Veteran and active military participants competed in crossfit, underscoring the strength and resilience of Ukraine’s defenders.
