Volodymyr Zelensky spoke to the media at the American air base “Ramstein” in Germany.

In an update on the situation in the Kursk region, the Ukrainian leader said they now control more than 1300 square kilometers.

He also urged military allies to ignore Moscow’s “red lines” and allow Kiev to use long-range weapons for attacks on Russian territory.

“We need to have these long-range capabilities not only on the territory of Ukraine, but also on Russian territory, so that Russia is motivated to seek peace,” he said at the meeting of about 50 arms supplying countries Ukraine.

We recall that at the beginning of August, Ukrainian troops launched a surprise attack in the Kursk region of Russia.

Zelensky said the move was to “hold” the territory and was a key part of the “victory plan” to end the war.

The invasion was kept secret from the Allies and only the Ukrainian intelligence service knew about it.

But so far the surprise attack inside Kursk territory has not diverted Russian President Vladimir Putin’s focus from taking the Ukrainian city of Pokrovsk, which provides critical rail links and supplies to the Ukrainian military. The loss of Pokrovsk could endanger other Ukrainian cities.
