Ukraine Expands List of Banned Anti‑Ukrainian Publications

Ukraine’s State Committee for Television and Radio Broadcasting has expanded its list of anti‑Ukrainian publications, adding 11 new titles identified as promoting Russian aggression and undermining Ukraine’s sovereignty, the agency said on Wednesday.

The committee said the decision followed joint monitoring work with the Security Service of Ukraine (SBU), which tracks publishing activity in Russia, Belarus, and Ukraine’s temporarily occupied territories to identify propaganda materials.

Most of the titles were released by Russian publishing houses, including sanctioned ones, after the start of Russia’s full‑scale invasion of Ukraine, the committee said.

Officials described the books as tools of hybrid warfare designed to legitimize the invasion, glorify war crimes, and deny Ukraine’s historical and political identity.

Among the publications added to the list are “Angels Alley: Facts of 8 Years of Genocide of Ukrainians Committed by Ukrainians Themselves in 2014 – 2022” by T. Tanaka, published in Japanese and aimed at foreign audiences, which officials said repeats Kremlin narratives about an alleged “internal conflict” in Ukraine.

Also listed was Oleg Kungurov’s pseudo‑historical work “There Was No Kievan Rus,” which authorities said denies Ukrainian identity and mirrors imperial Russian propaganda.

Another banned title, “Manganese: The Path of the Wagner PMC,” was described as glorifying terrorism and promoting illegal warfare.
