Ukraine’s military said a Russian A-50 airborne early warning and control aircraft was damaged following a recent strike – while additional attacks targeted industrial and military sites in occupied territories.
The General Staff of Ukraine’s Armed Forces said in a Telegram update on Friday, March 20, that the damage to the A-50 aircraft was confirmed after Tuesday’s strike on an aircraft repair plant in Russia’s Novgorod region.

According to the statement, the aircraft was undergoing maintenance at the facility and may have been awaiting modernization.
Ukrainian forces also struck facilities at the Alchevsk Metallurgical Plant in the occupied Luhansk region, the General Staff said.
The plant is involved in producing components for artillery shells and armored steel used by the Russian military, according to the statement.

In addition, Ukrainian forces targeted infrastructure at the Vostochnyi training ground near Novopetrivka in the occupied Zaporizhzhia region.
The extent of the damage and potential Russian losses are still being clarified.
