Ukraine thrashed France in the third-place play-off to achieve their best-ever finish at a FIFA Futsal World Cup™.
The team’s previous record had been fourth at Hong Kong 1992.
Ihor Cherniavskyi played a one-two with Ihor Korsun and stabbed the ball home to snap the deadlock, before Mykhailo Zvarych headed home an excellent Rostyslav Semenchenko cross to double Ukraine’s lead.
Ayoub Saadaoui pulled one back following dazzling wing play from Ouassini Guirio, but Yevhenii Zhuk struck a quick-fire brace to put Oleksandr Kosenko’s side firmly in command.
France immediately employed the flying goalkeeper, but it backfired, Danyil Abakshyn thrice looping the ball into an empty net from distance as Ukraine clinched bronze medals in emphatic style.
