
A massive Russian drone attack hit the south of the Odesa region early on Tuesday, Dec. 2, targeting energy and civilian infrastructure and cutting electricity to thousands of residents, local officials said.
Russian forces have repeatedly struck the Odesa region in recent weeks, pressing their campaign to cripple Ukraine’s power grid ahead of the winter months.

Oleh Kiper, head of the Odesa regional administration, said an energy site, an administrative building and several private homes were damaged.
A fire broke out at the energy facility, but firefighters and volunteers quickly brought it under control. No deaths or injuries were reported so far.
Emergency crews are working at the scene, and critical infrastructure is temporarily running on generators. Authorities have opened 11 “Points of Invincibility” to support residents without power.

Energy company DTEK said one of its facilities was hit in the attack. About 8,000 households were reconnected using backup systems, but another 36,300 remain without power. Repair teams are working around the clock.
