Ukraine fans are celebrating going into Sunday’s action.
Their team, for the first time in a decade, won a game at a EuroBasket by beating Bulgaria on Saturday, 67-56.
Ukraine stayed in the hunt for a place in the next round and a player who helped keep those hopes alive was the outstanding Oleksandr Kolchenko.
The coach of Ukraine, Mike Fratello, gushed with praise for Kolchenko.
“One thing about this young man I want to say, from the beginning of training camp, I have been as hard on him as I have been on anyone because I saw great potential in him,” Fratello said.
“But I never gave him a half an inch, okay? Because I didn’t want him to cheat himself.
“And I’m very happy for him that he’s been able to be a big contributor in our play so far.”
Kolchenko finished with 18 points on six of seven shooting from the floor and a perfect four of four effort from the line.
