On September 23 at 15:40 local time (at 4:40 JST on September 24) for approximately 20 minutes, Ms. KAMIKAWA Yoko, Minister for Foreign Affairs of Japan during her visit to the United States of America to attend the United Nations General Assembly, held a foreign ministers’ meeting with H.E. Mr. Andrii SYBIHA, Minister for Foreign Affairs of Ukraine. The overview of the meeting is as follows.
- Minister Kamikawa expressed her gratitude for the telephone call with Minister Sybiha held immediately after his inauguration as the Minister for Foreign Affairs, and once again expressed her congratulations to Minister Sybiha on his new post. Minister Kamikawa also reiterated that Japan would never waver in its position of standing together with Ukraine.
- Minister Kamikawa stated that Japan will continue to be involved in the diplomatic process actively even after the first Peace Summit held in June in order to bring a just and lasting peace to Ukraine as soon as possible. Minister Kamikawa also stated that Japan would continue to do utmost in order to support recovery and reconstruction of Ukraine, and expressed her expectation that the participation of Japanese companies in these efforts would be further promoted.
- Minister Sybiha stated that the visit to Kyiv of Minister Kamikawa has further deepened relations between the two countries and expressed his gratitude for the various assistance that Japan has provided Ukraine since the start of the Russian aggression, including in the field of recovery and reconstruction. Minister Sybiha also briefed Minister Kamikawa on the current situation in Ukraine and the various related efforts by Ukraine.
- The two ministers confirmed to continuously work closely.
