The participants of the meeting could personally communicate and ask their questions about the aviation future of Ukraine and the role of Boryspil Airport in it. In his speech, Oleksiy Dubrevskyy, Boryspil Airport CEO, shared the challenges faced by the airport in recent years. He spoke about the ongoing work aimed at maintaining the infrastructure and staff competency management, as well as focused on the current situation in the aviation industry and plans to return to normal operations after the airspace reopening.
The Director General emphasised that there are currently no prerequisites for the safe operation of civilian flights in Ukraine’s airspace, and the situation is unlikely to change in the near future. At the same time, he pointed out that care and maintanance of the airport’s operability is strategically important and more cost-effective than rebuilding the infrastructure from scratch.
‘Aviation is not just a transport industry, but also a strategic element for the entire economy. We are keeping the infrastructure and specialists ready so that after the reopening of the sky space, the aviation industry will become a driver of Ukraine’s business recovery, its job creator and the country’s catalyst for integration into the global economy,’ Oleksiy Dubrevskyy stressed.
The European Business Association highly appreciated the airport’s efforts to support its readiness to resume operations.
‘We are proud of the resilience of the Ukrainian aviation industry, which is developing and finding new opportunities despite the challenges. We hope that soon everyone will return to Boryspil Airport as passengers in peaceful Ukraine,’ commented Anna Derevyanko, Executive Director of the European Business Association.
She also highlighted the importance of cooperation between the state and business to create favourable conditions for international companies in Ukraine. The meeting became a platform for discussing new prospects for the aviation industry and the Ukrainian economy after the security situation stabilises.
